Before I get into the smokey beauty of our area, I have to mention that something must have happened to my beautiful bluebird family. I went back to check on them a few days after the last posting and there wasn’t much activity. Mom was around but not going to the nest. As I didn’t have much time, I left and returned the next day. No signs of life anywhere. I inched closer to the nest and finally took a peak inside and it was empty!!! I guess it is possible a snake got into it as the babies were too young to have ‘flown the coop’.It was a sad day for me, I hope they return next year and have better luck.
I think we have broken numerous temperature records here in the Kamloops area already this summer…’summer’ beginning in June! With the gorgeous heat has come the dreaded wild fires, the kind Mother Nature brings on to regenerate our forests and thin out the overgrown areas. We have 10 active fires around us, the largest being 588 hectares at Newby lake. 112 active fires of note in the province of BC.
On top of what nature is creating, there have also been numerous fires started by ‘man’, so many of which are ignited by people throwing lit cigarettes out their car windows!!!!! When will people learn???
As of July 6th there were 9 evacuation alerts and orders in effect with over 800 homes being impacted.
And drought conditions…….
So with all of the devastation created you do have to look for some hidden beauty, with smoke comes beautiful skies and sunsets!
Until next time…..
